I love chocolate. Especially when it’s paired with something nutritious like this healthy brownie bites recipe provides. I am always looking for a snack and craving chocolate (I know, it’s a problem). This is a snack I don’t feel bad about eating and it definitely cures the chocolate cravings.
This healthy brownie bites recipe is great for a quick snack. Even if you think “Ew.. dates”, you won’t even notice them. They have a caramel taste and are broken down in the food processor to a gooey sweet mess. Dates are great to sweeten up a snack or bind together bars without being empty sugar calories. These brownie bites could also be pressed and made into bar form.

Healthy Brownie Bites Recipe
- 2 cups pitted dates
- 1 1/2 cups walnuts
- 1/3 cup cacao powder
- 1 tsp vanilla
- a pinch of salt
Process all ingredients in a food processor until only small pieces remain and the mixture is sticky. Add 1 tablespoon of water and process more if it seems dry and won’t stick together into a clump.
Once the mixture can be formed without falling apart, it is ready to form into a healthy brownie ball. Form about 1 inch round balls. Usually I get 10-12.
These healthy brownie bites fare best in the refrigerator, but can be eaten any which way.
Benefits: Dates have fiber which benefits digestion and heart health. They also provide potassium and magnesium, both great for lowering blood pressure. Walnuts are a great source of omega-3 fatty acids which is beneficial to brain and heart health. Cacao powder is superior to cocoa powder in that is retains more nutrients, but either source has antioxidants and iron.
Fresh Flavor: A healthy brownie bites recipe with nutritious dates will satisfy a sweet tooth.
